What happens if I lose my passphrase?

Your backups become permanently unreadable, including to us. That is the trade-off zero-knowledge makes: because we never hold a key that can decrypt your data, we also cannot restore access to it. Store your passphrase in a password manager before your first backup.

Can Odyssie staff read my backups?

No. Encryption happens on your host before upload, and the passphrase is never transmitted. We hold ciphertext and metadata such as sizes, timestamps and database names.

Can I delete a backup before its retention expires?

On Free, Starter and Pro, retention uses GOVERNANCE mode, so an account administrator can remove an object early. On Business and Enterprise it is COMPLIANCE mode, which nothing can override until the clock runs out - including us. Choose deliberately if you have data-erasure obligations.

Where is my data stored?

In S3-compatible object storage with versioning and Object Lock enabled. Enterprise plans can point the agent at storage in a region or account you control.

Does storage overage cost extra?

No. Plans cap stored bytes rather than billing for overage. When you reach the cap, new backups are refused and existing ones are kept - we never silently delete your history to make room.

What counts as a database?

Each database targeted for backup, regardless of how many agents or hosts it sits behind. A cluster with three databases on one host counts as three.
